On 26 September, BlaBlaLab welcomes textile and technology artist Sophie Nadel for Wired Connections, an afternoon workshop that brings together electronics, embroidery, and a bit of physical connection.

In the workshop, each participant builds a pair of gloves containing "half a circuit" of LEDs, decorated with their own embroidered designs. The circuit is deliberately incomplete: it only lights up once two gloves touch, either through the wearer bringing their own hands together, or through the wider group forming a circle and passing the current between them. It's a simple bit of electronics that quickly becomes a shared, tactile experience, a reminder that connection, literally and figuratively, is something made together.

Participants will learn the fundamentals of circuits (the flow of electrons, series versus parallel circuits, why a circuit only works when complete) and see how these translate into e-textiles: sewable components, conductive thread, and fabric-based design. Templates and guidance are provided throughout, so no prior electronics experience is required, just curiosity and patience for a needle and thread.
