Workshop | Storytelling with geological sound with Mark Ijzerman

Can a layer of sound make us listen to what already lives under our feet?

Join us for an afternoon of building geolocative soundwalks: sound pieces anchored to specific spots in the landscape around us.

Guided by artist Mark IJzerman, participants will work with Echoes (echoes.xyz), a platform for placing sound in physical space. We’ll begin by walking and looking closely at our immediate surroundings, asking what we want to augment, enlarge, or push to the foreground. The plants finding their way through cracks in the pavement, the smaller creatures in the soil of the sidewalk or under the bark of a tree, the roots behind the concrete.
